A valid Class 1 Driver’s License is required
A clean Driver’s Abstract is required
A minimum of one year of commercial driving experience is required
OSSA Oil Sands, CSTS-09, OSSA BSO, or CSO certification is required
Ability to access all Acden client sites is required
Physically capable of performing labour-intensive tasks as required by the role
Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in task execution

Job Responsibility

Operate Roll-Off Truck, Tri-axle Compaction Trailer, and Tractor
Operate client-owned Haul-All compaction equipment and Transtor
Operate Skid Steer and Komatsu 210 Excavator to load bins and sort metals and wood
Gather and empty both sanitary and industrial waste receptacles
Sort, palletize, and load batteries into trailer
Maintain laydown yard and refurbish waste bins as directed
Perform cleaning and disinfection of lunchroom/break areas, including appliances
Perform other customer service-related duties as assigned

Processes hazardous waste materials including: segregation, compaction, vial crushing, solidification, recycling/reuse, lab-packing, consolidation, storage for radioactive decay, marking and labeling shipping containers and preparation of shipping documents and transportation
Provides assistance to university faculty, researchers, staff and private contractors in matters of accumulation, packaging, storage, labeling and disposal of hazardous chemicals, radioactive waste and biohazardous waste
Assists with all the lab packing for the main site and off-site facilities
Performs weekly chemical inspections on-site and off-site
Services Nimitz Marine Facility, Medical Center and other off-site facilities
Database activities include the maintenance of the Chemical Waste Tracking System with new regulations and processing changes
Provides coordination between resources and personnel to arrange special pick ups
Provides work direction to Lab Assistant IIIs
Part of the campus HazMat team which responds to hazardous spills and chemical emergencies and assists with hazardous materials clean up
