ALSO is looking for a Vehicle Modeling and Data Analyst Engineer to play a key role in developing and leading the reliability of multiple electric mobility vehicles over the full development cycle. As a Physical Systems Modeling & Data Analyst, you'll bridge the gap between theoretical modeling and real-world performance. You’ll build and refine physics-based and data-driven models of vehicle systems (e.g., powertrain, battery, thermal, structural), analyze telemetry and fleet data, and help inform engineering design decisions, testing, and product development.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and maintain multi-domain and high fidelity models of vehicle subsystems of an electric vehicle (e.g., drivetrains, battery systems, inverters, DC/DC converters, motors, gear boxes, braking, thermal systems)
Simulate and analyze powertrain behavior under various use cases, operating conditions, and control strategies. Deep expertise in electrical system dynamics, transient current behavior, and battery ripple current analysis to support the design, optimization, and validation of advanced electrified powertrains
Create models that aid in analyzing efficiency, range estimation, thermal performance, cost analysis, and drive cycle generation
Ability to take motor electre-magnetic model and convert into form that runs at full system model level
Ability to take battery cell supplier data and create cell and pack models for powertrain system level modeling as well as for use in BMS algorithm development
Process and analyze data collected from prototypes, test benches, and field-deployed vehicles
Correlate model predictions with real-world data to validate and refine simulations
Work cross-functionally with hardware, firmware, and software teams to improve model fidelity and product performance
Support data pipelines and dashboards for system health monitoring, usage profiling, and reliability tracking
Translate modeling and data insights into actionable engineering recommendations
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree minimum, Master’s degree preferred in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
6+ years of experience in physical systems modeling (e.g., Simulink, Modelica, MATLAB, or equivalent tools)
Strong Matlab and Simulink experience
Strong experience with Python or other data analysis tools (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Jupyter)
Familiarity with vehicle dynamics, control systems, or battery/electric powertrain modeling
Hands-on experience with time-series data analysis and signal processing including filtering and fourier analysis
Familiarity with CAN bus protocols, vehicle telemetry, or IoT data systems
