The Associate, Training Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and evaluating technical training programs for Clearway field technicians and front-line leaders. This experienced individual contributor role requires experience in energy, industrial operations, workforce development, or other technical environments. The Associate, Training Developer leads projects, mentors junior training developers, and serves as a subject matter expert in learning and development. The role ensures training solutions are effective, scalable, and aligned with organizational objectives, working both independently and collaboratively with subject matter experts and operational stakeholders.
Job Responsibility:
Design and develop technical learning programs using instructional design models and (e.g., ADDIE, Bloom’s Taxonomy, Kirkpatrick, Gagne's Nine Events and others)
Conduct needs assessments and gap analyses to identify and address technical training requirements
Develop learning objectives, assessments, and multimedia content that support organizational goals and enable Level 3 and Level 4 Kirkpatrick measurement
Create and update instructor-led training materials ensuring alignment with measurable, meaningful learning objectives
Collaborate with internal SMEs and external vendors to build and maintain training content tailored to each technology
Collect and analyze participant feedback and assessment data to recommend improvements to training content, materials, delivery methods, and learning outcomes
Leverage data-driven insights to report on and enhance program effectiveness in support of operational and business objectives
Partner with technical subject matter experts, operations leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure content accuracy and relevance
Mentor and guide junior team members, providing constructive feedback and supporting their professional development
Lead project teams or workstreams, define deliverables, establish development timelines, and ensure milestones are met
Manage multiple training development projects concurrently, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Industrial & Organizational Psychology, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. Relevant experience in lieu of related degree may be considered
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in technical training, operations training, workforce development, or instructional design within energy, utilities, manufacturing, industrial, or similar technical sectors
Experience with the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) methodology
Proven track record developing, implementing, and evaluating training programs in technical or operational environments
Demonstrated understanding of instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and training evaluation frameworks. Portfolio or work examples strongly desired
Proficiency with LMS platforms and eLearning authoring tools
Excellent project management and organizational skills
Strong critical thinking, including the ability to analyze problems, evaluate options, and operate effectively amid ambiguity
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
Experience mentoring or coaching junior staff
Willingness to travel up to 10%
