The Test Operator is responsible for executing tests on engineered pipe support components to ensure they meet quality, safety, and performance specifications. This role involves setting up test equipment, running test procedures, identifying and reporting components that are satisfactory or do not meet specified test criteria. This position is responsible for performing visual inspections of pipe supports within power and industrial plants. The inspector will be responsible for technical guidance on installation, repair and/or adjustment of supports. Written reports of findings and recommendations are required. This position is required to conduct business in a professional and cordial manner that will uphold the integrity and reputation of ASC. This position maintains a thorough working knowledge of and adheres to the policies, regulations, and procedures, from the Customer and/or ASC. Note: Due to the uniqueness of our products and services, Internal training and certifications are a requirement and provided periodically.
Job Responsibility:
Set up, calibrate, and operate test equipment (manual, semi-automated, or fully automated) according to test procedures and standard operating procedures
Perform functional tests on engineered pipe supports to verify that units satisfy all design and engineering requirements
Visually inspect engineered pipes support to determine the general mechanical structural condition of components and their supports by verifying parameters erosion, including settings, and physical displacements
and detect discontinuities and imperfections such as loss of integrity at bolted or welded connections, loose or missing parts, debris, corrosion wear, or erosion, including examinations for conditions that could affect operability or functional adequacy of snubbers, constant load,spring type and rigid supports
Prepare inspections reports for submittal to Customer and/or Project Manager. Reports to include recorded positions, findings and recommended corrective actions
Perform visual inspections of pipe supports within power and industrial plants
Provide technical guidance on installation, repair and/or adjustment of supports
Write reports of findings and recommendations
Conduct business in a professional and cordial manner that will uphold the integrity and reputation of ASC
Maintain a thorough working knowledge of and adhere to the policies, regulations, and procedures, from the Customer and/or ASC
Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in relevant technical / engineering disciplines (e.g. Electrical, Physics, Computer Science, etc.)
Ability to read isometric drawings
Good computer skills: data entry, possibly working with test automation software
Excellent attention to detail
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Physical stamina: ability to stand for long periods, lift specified weights (often 25-30 Lbs. depending on role) and work in varying environmental conditions as needed
Strong reliability and consistency
Willingness to learn and adapt to changing work conditions
Good communication: ability to report issues clearly, escalate when needed, work with engineers and QC
Ability to write detailed reports following inspections of walkdowns of engineered pipe supports
Strong mechanical aptitude
Strong willingness to exceed and advance with Company
