Job Description:

Our Client was founded to deliver on a promise of better fit. They are in a period of growth, driven by a rapid expansion in the range. They cover most styles of trouser and denim, but also increasingly top half categories including jersey, knitwear and jackets. Their supply chain reaches from Portugal, to Asia (in Sri Lanka) and the Far East (in China and Vietnam). As the Technical Manager, you’ll lead the charge on both - owning blocks, grading, testing and compliance while helping our teams and suppliers raise the bar at every stage of development and production. This role requires someone who can flex confidently between hands-on day-to-day Garment Tech responsibilities and spearheading broader technical projects and process improvements - from shaping QA strategy to driving block development and supplier capability. We’re looking for a sharp technical mind, a natural problem-solver, and a confident communicator who can manage people, processes, and suppliers with equal strength.

Job Responsibility:

  • Own and maintain block library- ensuring all blocks and grading align with the fit strategy and evolve with customer insight and new category development
  • Lead fit sessions across all categories - capturing outcomes clearly and ensuring they’re actioned through updated specs and blocks within the timeframe set by the critical path.
  • Manage the sealing for the development samples: Protos, SMS, PPS, and Top Samples - ensuring technical clarity and timely turnarounds
  • Work directly with suppliers to resolve construction, fit and quality issues at both sample and bulk stages
  • Conduct factory visits (UK and overseas) to monitor inline production, QC standards, and recommend process improvements
  • Review and analyse testing reports, AQL inspections and QC data, escalating issues and ensuring learnings feed back into the process
  • Own compliance and testing standards across all regions and product categories - ensuring we meet legal, performance and brand thresholds
  • Own and improve internal QA and tech processes - including spec creation, tolerance setting, grading tools, and tech pack documentation
  • Line manage and coach a Junior Garment Tech, helping build internal expertise as our range and volume grow
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers- ensuring tech issues are resolved quickly, and fit standards are consistently understood and upheld
  • Develop internal knowledge of fabric performance and handling- supporting Design and Production in selecting suitable materials for each product type
  • Champion the technical perspective during product development - balancing design intent, commercial goals, and manufacturing feasibility
  • Ensure product returns, fit complaints, and quality issues remain within agreed thresholds—tracking improvements over time

Requirements:

  • 5+ years in a Garment Tech or Technical Manager role - ideally in premium or luxury menswear
  • Deep understanding of fit, construction, grading, and spec development, with a strong bias toward tailoring and woven product
  • Experience with AQL processes, fabric testing, and compliance standards across UK/EU markets
  • Track record in managing supplier relationships across Europe and the Far East
  • Clear, confident communicator - capable of managing up, across and externally with ease
  • People management skills, with experience leading and developing junior team members
  • A methodical, process-driven approach to work
  • Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills
  • Able and willing to travel to factories as needed, sometimes at short notice
  • Happy to work from our Richmond HQ three days a week

Nice to have:

  • A true fit nerd - you notice the things others miss, and genuinely care about helping guys feel great in their clothes
  • Commercial instinct - you understand the balance between ideal and viable
  • Proactive mindset- you get in front of problems before they escalate
  • Calm under pressure - when production's on fire, you stay cool and focused
  • Startup energy- you’re organised, driven, and always looking to improve
  • A genuine love of menswear, product craft, and quality
What we offer:

Tailored contracts and attractive pay
