We are looking for a creative and technical 3D artist intern to join our team, focusing on the visual heart of our product: the Furhat face. Unlike a traditional prototyping role, this internship is a deep dive into high-fidelity visual exploration. You will focus on pushing the boundaries of our robot's expressiveness through facial rig animations, 3D modeling, and game engine rendering. This internship is ideal for someone eager to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of character art, technical animation, and social robotics. You will play a key role in defining how our robots portray emotions and connect with humans.
Job Responsibility:
Facial Animation & Rigging: Explore and refine facial rig animations to create nuanced, lifelike portrayals of human emotions and expressions
3D Modeling: Create new character faces, skins, and assets, while working to improve existing graphics and visual fidelity
Game Engine Exploration: Research and test different game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal, Godot) to optimize rendering performance and explore new visual possibilities for the Furhat platform
Visual Prototyping: Collaborate with the product team to visually conceptualize new features or character personalities
Asset Pipeline: Assist in streamlining the process from 3D model creation to real-time engine implementation
Requirements:
Student, recent graduate, or someone looking to gain experience in 3D Animation, Game Art, Technical Art, or Computer Graphics
Creative soul with a technical edge
Detail-oriented with a keen eye for anatomy, facial expressions, and motion
Problem-solving mindset and eagerness to experiment with new tools and engines
Passionate about bringing characters to life and exploring the future of human-robot interaction
Strong interest or experience in 3D Modeling and Texturing (e.g., Blender, Maya, ZBrush)
Experience or strong interest in Rigging and Facial Animation
Familiarity with real-time Game Engines (such as Unity or Unreal Engine)
Strong communication skills in English
Experience, passion, and talent in a field critical to our success
A strong belief in your work and a desire to see robots improve quality of life in society
Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week)
Availability to work onsite at our office in Stockholm
Commitment to giving 100% to Furhat during your internship
Highly coachable and eager to learn
Must be eligible to work in Sweden without visa sponsorship (EU citizenship or a valid Swedish work permit)
