We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join our specialist team in Haywards Heath. This role is set within a well-regarded educational trust that focuses on supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC). This is more than just a classroom role; it is an opportunity to provide the stability and support these students need to thrive academically and emotionally.
Job Responsibility:
Direct Pupil Support: Work 1:1 or in small groups to help students engage with their learning and manage their emotions
Collaboration: Partner with Class Teachers to implement bespoke lesson plans and educational activities
Progress Tracking: Monitor student milestones and assist with essential assessment records
Environment Building: Help maintain a positive, safe, and organised learning space tailored to sensory and emotional needs
Requirements:
GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent
Previous experience working with children (SEMH experience is highly desirable)
A calm, reassuring, and responsive nature
Ability to remain composed in challenging situations
Excellent teamwork skills
Ability to build rapport quickly with students
Nice to have:
SEMH experience
Experience with Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC) or similar SEND environments
