Job Description:

The Summer Recreation Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, promoting and administering a comprehensive youth recreation program for the City of Brandon.

Job Responsibility:

  • Cooperation with interested groups in coordinating city recreational programs
  • Plan and implement the general recreation program to provide a wide range of activities for all age groups
  • Acquire facility use permits to operate the program
  • Coordinate bus drivers with the school district
  • Maintain records and reports necessary to evaluate the use of playground, activities and programs to compile an annual report and budget
  • Perform other related work as required
  • Provide direct supervision of the eight week summer recreation program during June and July

Requirements:

  • Background in elementary education, recreational administration or physical education
  • Experience supervising and/or administering a community based recreational program
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Availability in the spring to coordinate interviews/hiring of the Summer Recreation staff
  • Availability to work with the Finance officer to coordinate registration for the program in conjunction with the pool registration
  • Hiring and training of staff
  • Organization of the summer activities flyer in late winter and early spring

Nice to have:

  • Student pursing a degree in elementary education, recreational administration or physical education
  • Educator seeking seasonal employment
