Job Description:

This is a rewarding and dynamic role for an individual who is passionate about engaging and inspiring young people. As a Horticulture Tutor, you will be part of a committed and professional team delivering high-quality programmes that motivate learners to develop their skills, gain recognised qualifications, and progress into meaningful careers.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage the learning journey of students from initial interview and assessment through to successful achievement of a Level 1 or Level 2 qualification in Practical Horticulture Skills, with a focus on sports ground maintenance
  • Deliver practical, hands-on teaching tailored to meet the needs of a diverse cohort of learners
  • Contribute to the development of learners’ employability and social skills
  • Support those who require it to achieve qualifications in English and maths up to GCSE level
  • Work in close partnership with host clubs on a day-to-day basis, maintaining strong lines of communication and ensuring collaborative working
  • Engage in regulated activity relevant to children
  • Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people, and/or vulnerable adults

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with young people or looking to share knowledge and experiences with the next generation
  • Possessing teaching and assessing qualifications
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team
  • Strong sense of purpose and a passion for teaching and training
  • Ability to use initiative and work to set deadlines
  • Possess a keen interest in horticulture
  • Qualified to a minimum level 3 in Horticulture
  • Plan and deliver diverse and innovative teaching, learning and assessment opportunities
  • Ensure learning, teaching and assessment programmes take account of the latest developments in subjects taught
  • Provide pastoral and tutorial support
  • Successfully complete pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS disclosure, teacher prohibition check, receipt of satisfactory references, overseas check (if applicable), relevant original ID documentation and examination certificates
  • Candidates with overseas experience exceeding six months within the past five years required to provide criminal background checks or certificates of good conduct
