Job Responsibility:
Developing high quality detailed design packages
Provide engineering procurement and field technical support to implement those designs
Provide expertise for troubleshooting and technical assessments of plant facilities
Preparation of conceptual engineering deliverables such as cost-estimating bills of material and man-hour estimates, statements of work, design criteria, and design engineering deliverables
Effectively and cooperatively work as a team member of an integrated project team, or as a technical lead for a multi-discipline task
Routinely provide input to system engineers and other plant customers
Routinely perform walkdowns in the existing plant facilities in order to generate design documents and provide field support to craft personnel
Provide self-performed technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems through the application of established engineering practices, codes, and standards
Building evaluations and modifications
Seismic analysies and rehab
Oversight of outside engineering firms
Steel and concrete design
Machine installations
Developing structural drawings (plans, sections and details) for various materials of construction (steel, concrete, cold-formed steel)
Structural calculations
Equipment anchorage
Report preparation
Drafting (or oversight of drafting)
Preparation of construction specificaions (generally in the form of general notes on the drawings)
Plan, self-perform, and/or direct all engineering design team activities on a project
Development of detailed project scope, design time-lines, functions and requirements, design basis and criteria, design scheduled and tracking, project engineering budget, calculations, drawing generation, research, design review, inter-discipline design coordination, design approval, design change control, specifications, approval of contractor technical and material submittals and field verification of construction compliance to design
Requirements:
Active DOE Q clearance (or DOD equivalent)
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a ABET accredited school with a minimum of 10 years' experience (with emphasis on Structural Engineering)
US citizenship is required
Requires strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability interface effectively with various clients, production and support organizations, management, and hourly wage employees
Must be willing to work in a production environment
Nice to have:
An active professional engineering (PE) license is preferred
CAD drafting experience not required but preferred, along with any 3D modeling experience
Structural modeling experience with STAAD.Pro is also preferred
