An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Consultant in Stroke Medicine to join a dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary team in the South East Region. This is an ideal position for a motivated Consultant who is passionate about delivering high-quality stroke care and is looking to combine professional growth with a rewarding work–life balance in a unique coastal setting.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver inpatient and outpatient Stroke Medicine services
Participate in the acute medical on-call rota (1 in 11 frequency)
Provide occasional inpatient General Medicine cover
Support and supervise junior medical staff
Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, examinations, and continuing medical education
Engage actively in clinical audit, service development, and quality improvement initiatives
Collaborate within the multidisciplinary team to deliver timely and effective thrombolysis and rehabilitation care.
Requirements:
MBBS or equivalent medical degree
MRCP or equivalent postgraduate qualification
Complete GMC registration with a licence to practise
Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for General Internal Medicine and either Stroke Medicine or Geriatrics, via: CCT (proposed CCT date within 6 months of interview), or CESR, or European Community rights
Completion of a recognised training programme in General Internal Medicine and Care of the Elderly, with substantial Stroke Medicine experience
Demonstrated competence and confidence in managing acute stroke, rehabilitation, and general medical patients
Proven record of teaching undergraduates, postgraduates, and junior medical staff
Evidence of involvement in clinical audit and quality improvement relevant to the speciality
Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Strong commitment to teamwork, innovation, and continuous service improvement
Understanding of NHS clinical governance and resource management principles.
