Job Description:

The Sterile Processing Tech II, in conjunction with the Operating Room Instrument Technician, is responsible for the inspection, preparation, and sterilization of instruments and instrument sets utilized in the Main Operating Room. Loads and unloads sterilizers.

  • Loads and unloads sterilizers

Requirements:

  • 2 years experience in sterile processing
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Current Central Service Technician Certification
  • Certification can be obtained within one year of employment with proof of 6 months working experience and completion of CS program and internship

Nice to have:

  • 2+ years surgical instrument preparation experience
  • 5+ years in sterile processing

  • Completion of a Sterile Processing Program or surgical tech program required

  • Operate and maintain cleaning and sterilization equipment, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to safety protocols
  • Perform biological testing, monitor autoclave performance, and identify instruments needing repair or sharpening
  • Maintain supply levels, fill surgical case cart requisitions using our hospital computer system, and report any equipment malfunctions
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, physicians, and supervisory staff
  • Act as a preceptor and mentor to new team members, sharing your expertise and contributing to their development
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of sterilization principles, infection control practices, and universal safety precautions
