As a Staff Computational Biologist at Aignostics, you will own how we process, model, and analyze various *omics data types, consult our Machine Learning teams on best practices from the field, and shape future directions of our company together with other technical leaders in the company. With your technical expertise, you will continuously improve approaches and processes for handling biological data and ensure highest scientific standards across teams and projects within the organization. In your daily work, you support our drug discovery and translational research teams and advance the state of the art in clinomics data integration. You will work primarily on drug target identification for oncology but have strong cross-team impact by transferring learnings and best practices to other teams where you will harmonize and develop data processing pipelines, prototype models and analyses to gain scientific insights, and interact with key clients.
Job Responsibility:
Own our various *omics data processing pipelines within our code ecosystem, continuously improving and harmonizing them
Contribute to developing Python-based pipelines for processing proteomic, genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenetic data at large scale
Consult our drug discovery and translational research teams in best practices, feasibility of computational Biology analyses, and presentation of biological data
Elevate insights from machine learning models into concrete biological hypotheses that you validate in-silico, leveraging public and proprietary data sources
Educate and mentor team members on latest advances in the field and continue to be up to date on advances in computational Biology methodology for oncology research
Requirements:
Ph.D. or MSc. in computational Biology/Bioinformatics
3+ years of relevant experience in industry settings, either biotech or pharmaceutical industry
Proven track record of publications in computational oncology
Advanced skills in Python and R, ability to prototype analyses and solutions effectively
Passion for highest scientific standards and the ever-evolving field of computational oncology
Broad multi-omics expertise (DNA, RNA (incl. scRNAseq, spatial transcriptomics), CRISPR, ChIP-seq, methylation, proteomics), established experimental techniques and fit for purpose statistical analyses
In-depth knowledge of cancer biology and genetics
Excellent communication for broad audiences, teamwork, and data visualization skills
Strong learning agility and scientific rigor
Nice to have:
Familiarity with fundamental machine learning concepts
Experience with multimodal machine learning
Familiarity with cloud infrastructures (AWS, GCP)
