Job Description:

An experienced DevOps engineer who owns the end‑to‑end CI/CD experience, production readiness, and safe, repeatable releases for containerized workloads on Public cloud and PCF platforms. You move seamlessly between hands‑on diagnostics, infrastructure automation (using Terraform), and cross‑team orchestration with SRE, Release Management, and feature teams.

Job Responsibility:

  • Own CI/CD pipelines in GitHub from build through promotion and deployment for containerized services
  • define guardrails, quality gates, and rollout/rollback patterns aligned with SRE and Release Management practices
  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and release workflows that accelerate safe, frequent deployments to GCP and on prem/hybrid environments
  • Diagnose container runtime issues (e.g., task health, service scaling, deployments) and partner with teams during image promotion windows
  • Embed reliability practices: runbooks, production checks, operational readiness, and joint incident/retro participation with SRE
  • Champion observability and change safety: metrics, logs, alerts, and progressive delivery strategies (feature flags, config changes, DB change playbooks)
  • Respond to Alerts and Escalations: Actively monitor and respond to system alerts and escalations to ensure the stability and reliability of our services
  • Lead and coordinate system recovery efforts during incidents
  • Implement observability and runbooks with developers (dashboards, alerts, SLO aligned monitors) to reduce MTTR and prevent repeat issues
  • Participate in an on call rotation for DevOps support (release support, pipelines, platform) while partnering with SRE/operations teams on production reliability
  • Operate within Change Management controls (ticketing, approvals, deployment windows) and contribute to continuous improvement of release governance
  • Collaborate within Agile ceremonies—stand ups, reviews, and retros—to plan work, surface risks, and iterate quickly as a self organizing engineering partner
  • Implement SRE principles, including SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, monitoring, blameless postmortems, and toil reduction

Requirements:

  • 7-9+ years of DevOps experience in Linux environments, with deep hands‑on GCP exposure
  • 1+ year of Schwab technology domain experience gained as a current or recent contractor
  • Strong PCF (Pivotal Cloud Foundry) experience (preferably production workload support) and understanding of its architecture/deployment strategies
  • Strong knowledge of core GCP services and architectures (e.g., GKE, networking, IAM, storage), with practical production experience
  • GCP certification preferred
  • Expertise in Docker and 12‑factor design
  • production experience with GKE, Helm
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools—GitHub Actions and Bamboo—including build packaging, test gates, environment promotion, and production support workflows
  • Hands‑on Terraform for infrastructure‑as‑code and environment automation
  • Strong understanding of networking (routing, subnets, NAT) as it applies to microservices and hybrid connectivity
  • Scripting in Bash and Python for build/deploy tooling, environment diagnostics, and automation
  • Clear documentation, cross‑team communication, and problem‑solving skills in a fast‑moving Agile environment
  • Hands on experience in following tech stack Languages/Frameworks: Java, .NET, Python
  • Cloud/Platform: PCF, GCP, GKE, container registry, artifact management
  • CI/CD & IaC: GitHub Actions, Bamboo, Terraform, Helm

Nice to have:

  • Experience and knowledge of Postgres, MongoDB/Aerospike
  • Experience with logging/application monitoring tools (AppDynamics, Splunk, DataDog, Grafana etc.)
  • Experience with large scale distributed systems and high-availability architectures
  • Knowledge of one or more of Message Brokers such as Kafka, RabbitMQ
What we offer:
  • 401(k) with company match and Employee stock purchase plan
  • Paid time for vacation, volunteering, and 28-day sabbatical after every 5 years of service for eligible positions
  • Paid parental leave and family building benefits
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
