Manage the day-to-day operations of the contractor protection groups across the New York Division. Daily tasks will include responsibilities in both the office and the field in all types of weather conditions to support a 24/7 operation. Territory is across the New York Division (Holmes – CP216), including Sunnyside Yard (SSYD). Will also serve as occasional support for track usage coordination and planning across New York Division.
Job Responsibility:
Manage the day-to-day operations of the contractor protection groups across the New York Division
Coordinate, schedule, and direct manpower resources for contractor protection for all 3rd party project activities within the territory
Remain available 24/7 to respond to emergencies and interruptions to the operations
Support planned work on weekends and nights in the field
Schedule technical training, safety training, safety compliance training, and physical exams for all direct reports
Observe field activities to ensure conformance with safety protocols
Report observations to drive improvement in the overall safety culture
Implement safety work plans for the prevention and elimination of personal injuries and hazardous conditions
Monitor work performance in the field and audit technical procedures
Investigate accidents and respond as required
Ensure compliance with current collective bargaining agreements and recommend formal discipline as warranted
Develop and publish schedule for New York Division track outages when required
Host and/or participate in meetings to discuss and coordinate track outages across departments
Work with senior managers to provide efficient outages when required
Coordinate work across departments- interfacing with Transportation and Mechanical to ensure safe and efficient train movement in conjunction with planned work
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience
Plus 6 years of relevant work experience
Proficient in interfacing with employees at all levels and collaborating across IMCS and Transportation Departments
Skilled and experienced in MS Office, including creating spreadsheets, presentations, and memorandums
Demonstrates expertise in railroad infrastructure inspection, maintenance, and construction, with basic knowledge of related crafts
Knowledgeable in railroad operations, operating rules, and divisional processes, including track and OCS outages
Familiar with Federal Railroad Regulations, including Roadway Worker Protection
Nice to have:
