Join us as a Software Engineer at Barclays, where you'll spearhead the evolution of our digital landscape, driving innovation and excellence. You will be leading the design and development of enterprise-scale Java applications using modern frameworks and cloud-native architectures. Drive technical decisions and mentor development teams.

Job Responsibility:

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability

Requirements:

  • Hands-on Java development (Java 8+ features, streams, lambdas, modules)
  • Advanced Spring ecosystem (Boot, Security, Data JPA, Cloud)
  • Deep understanding of JVM internals, garbage collection, and performance tuning
  • Expert-level knowledge of design patterns, SOLID principles, and clean code practices
  • Proficiency with build tools (Maven, Gradle) and dependency management
  • Design and develop complex enterprise applications using Java 11/17+, Spring Boot 2.7/3.x
  • Implement microservices architecture with Spring Cloud (Gateway, Config, Discovery)
  • Build RESTful APIs and event-driven systems using Spring WebFlux, Kafka, RabbitMQ
  • Develop cloud-native applications with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Implement comprehensive testing strategies (JUnit 5, Mockito, Test Containers, integration testing)

Nice to have:

  • Deploy and manage applications on GCP using Infrastructure as Code
  • Design CI/CD pipelines with GitLab CI, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
