We are seeking a Social Media Advisor to join CSIRO’s Social Media team and help amplify the stories of Australia’s National Science Agency. In this role, you will plan and deliver compelling content across CSIRO’s social media channels. You’ll bring curiosity, creativity and strong editorial judgement to your work, along with a passion for digital storytelling and engaging diverse audiences. Using data and insights, you’ll analyse audience behaviour, stay across news, and explore how emerging trends can strengthen CSIRO’s digital presence. Please note, the role involves rostered and paid weekend work (approximately one weekend a month) and some after-hours work, to help moderate CSIRO’s social media channels outside of business hours.
Job Responsibility:
Collaborate with communicators to create engaging and effective social media content (including video, photography, graphic design, and written content) for various platforms to support delivery of the Communication strategy
Monitor and moderate social media, understanding the risks and opportunities inherent in two-way engagement with the community and refer issues to managers where appropriate
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to source stories, share updates, and support campaign execution across digital platforms
Apply strong editorial judgement to ensure consistency, clarity and impact across all external digital content
Monitor and report on performance metrics across content types and platforms, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement
Requirements:
Exceptional writing skills and ability to create compelling, high-quality visual content for social media
High-level communication skills and experience writing for a wide variety of audiences and channels, adhering to editorial guidelines
Proactive approach and ability to build and maintain high trust, respected and collaborative working relationships with clients across a wide range of disciplines at all levels of the organisation
Demonstrated experience using social media analytics to report on performance, providing data-driven insights and recommendations for continuous improvement
Demonstrated experience using initiative and working independently to achieve results
Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new information and develop new skills
Ability to obtain and provide evidence of holding a valid paid/employee (not volunteer) Working with Children/ Vulnerable People Check prior to confirmation of appointment
