We are seeking an experienced and driven Site Superintendent to lead daily field operations on commercial construction projects in the Dayton area. This individual will serve as the on-site leader responsible for safety, schedule execution, subcontractor coordination, quality control, and client communication. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes ownership of field performance, and communicates effectively with Project Managers, subcontractors, and clients. This role requires strong organizational skills, decisive leadership, and the ability to proactively manage project details from mobilization through closeout. Job Responsibility:
Develop and plan weekly site activities in coordination with the Project Manager
Provide clear direction to subcontractors regarding scope, sequencing, safety expectations, and performance standards
Lead weekly subcontractor coordination meetings to review progress, upcoming milestones, and potential obstacles
Ensure manpower is aligned with project demands and schedule requirements
Monitor and track progress against the master schedule
Identify potential delays or conflicts and proactively communicate issues to the Project Manager
Implement recovery plans when necessary to maintain project timelines
Coordinate inspections and milestone activities to prevent schedule disruption
Maintain accurate daily logs documenting subcontractor presence, weather conditions, inspections, site visitors, safety observations, and all field activities
Enter and update daily logs within project management software
Track material deliveries and confirm correct quantities and condition upon arrival
Maintain updated field documentation and jobsite records
Schedule and coordinate subcontractor activities to ensure proper sequencing and site efficiency
Coordinate all material deliveries to align with schedule and minimize site congestion
Confirm subcontractors are working in accordance with approved drawings and specifications
Maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors to foster accountability and performance
Monitor quality of work for compliance with drawings, specifications, and building codes
Conduct regular site inspections and identify deficiencies early
Ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly
Coordinate and manage punch list development and completion
Conduct regular onsite walkthroughs with clients to provide project updates and address concerns
Ensure client expectations are clearly understood and managed
Maintain professional communication and represent the company in a positive manner at all times
Identify conditions that may require change orders due to scope modifications, unforeseen conditions, or client requests
Document and communicate change order needs to the Project Manager promptly
Assist in gathering field data to support pricing and scope clarification
Coordinate final inspections and ensure compliance for obtaining Certificates of Occupancy
Oversee final site cleanup and turnover requirements
Conduct post-construction follow-ups and address warranty-related concerns during the early occupancy period
Participate in post-project evaluation meetings to review lessons learned and continuous improvement opportunities
Requirements:
Minimum experience in commercial construction field supervision
Strong leadership and team management skills
Ability to manage multiple trades and maintain productive jobsite operations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Experience with construction management software preferred
OSHA 30 certification required
Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with clients, subcontractors, inspectors, and internal teams
Occasional travel may be required (negotiable depending on project location)
