Job Responsibility:
Ensure delivery of site targets for all departments within the Site, in terms of sales & profitability through the effective management of all store operations
The recruitment, training, and development of high-quality personnel for all departments within the store
Overseeing rostering and general management of personnel
Plan and organise all aspects of the operation to include all Fuel, Food, Retail, together with ancillary offerings on site
In the absence of a Manager, taking the leading role, overseeing operations, and leading by example
Managing the overall performance of the site, and driving operations
Merchandising professionally
Manage the performance of the team
Continually communicate with Managers regarding objectives and store performance
Setting goals for the store
Developing and implementing a plan for the store
Where applicable, generating financial reports, analysing same, and reporting any discrepancies
Management of cash handling
Setting and achieving budgets for the store
Ensure overheads are controlled and minimised
Ensure store sales are maximised
Ensure department margins are managed appropriately
Ensure operation runs efficiently and smoothly
Ensure store standards are consistently improved
Plan for market changes and demands
Ensure in-store promotions are managed appropriately
Ensure policies and procedures are implemented and managed
Manage cash handling in line with company cash handling procedures
Manage store merchandising
Accountable for ensuring consistently high levels of customer service
Ensure all customer complaints are dealt with appropriately
To take necessary action in store improvements following customer complaints
Manage personnel, recruitment, training, procedures, and effectiveness
Manage safety systems for both customers and staff
Report all accidents and near misses to Head Office
Ensure effective stock control systems are in place
Preparation for and management of stock take
Ensure effective stock control procedures are in place
Ensure effective food management and waste systems are implemented
Identify areas of stock leakage and ensure effective systems are in place
Ensure effective stock rotation and stock monitoring systems
Take full care of the Health & Safety of all personnel and customers
Ensure Forecourt Health & Safety procedures are in place
Ensure security of store and personnel is maintained
Take relevant action on security issues
Ensure secure opening and closing procedures
Ensure the store operates within relevant legislation
Ensure you are up to date on all aspects of Health & Safety legislation, HACCP, Labour Law, and Consumer Legislation
Meet targets as agreed
To undertake other additional duties as may be assigned by the company
Requirements:
Proven ability in managing diverse retail/food site offerings
Planning & organising ability
Problem-solving
Managing performance (of all employees on site)
Excellent operational knowledge of the retail environment
Excellent interpersonal relations
Excellent understanding of consumer needs
Proven track record in achieving agreed targets
Ability to get involved with the local community in a positive way leading to goodwill and loyalty
Financial skills with previous experience in budgets and profit and loss accounts
Working knowledge of Labour Law, Health & Safety regulations, HACCP, and Consumer Law
An excellent commercial acumen with the ability to anticipate and react to market changes
