Job Description:

We are looking for a Shop Labourer at our Walker Compost Facility in Arthur, ON. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Shop Labourer is responsible for assisting our maintenance department with daily tasks that ensure the shop is running safely and efficiently. This will include keeping the shop organized and assisting with basic preventative maintenance (PMs). Furthermore, the incumbent will have responsibility for cleaning and pressure washing mobile equipment, including front-end wheel loaders and bulldozers. This position will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor on the day shift, Mondays-Fridays.

Job Responsibility:

  • In collaboration with maintenance shop personnel, perform basic preventative maintenance (PMs) such as oil changes and greasing
  • Maintain shop housekeeping and cleanliness
  • Operate a washing station and pressure washer to clean heavy equipment as directed. This includes front-end wheel loaders, skid steers and bulldozers
  • Disposing of oils following safe work and environmental guidelines
  • Adhere to all appropriate safe operating procedures (SOPs) and environmental regulations, ensuring that work is performed in a safe manner
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Minimum high school graduation, or equivalent level of education
  • Prior experience in general labour or working in a maintenance shop is an asset
  • Good mechanical aptitude required
  • Excellent customer service including courtesy, tact and diplomacy
  • Good communication skills
  • Capacity to follow directives and fulfill requests
