The Training Aircraft Readiness Data Scientist (Senior) will support the Naval Undergraduate Flight Training Systems Program Office at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. The program which this position supports is responsible for managing the aircraft, simulators, and associated systems that support the U.S. Navy’s undergraduate pilot training pipeline.
Job Responsibility:
Lead advanced training aircraft readiness analysis, applying statistical modeling, predictive analytics, and readiness metrics evaluation to identify trends, assess training aircraft readiness performance, and provide actionable insights that improve mission availability
Provides high-level subject matter expertise, analysis, and technical guidance to support project execution
Requirements:
Proficiency in analyzing and extracting data from DoD aviation maintenance and logistics systems (e.g., NALDA, OOMA, DECKPLATE)
Experience working with aircraft maintenance, logistics, and readiness data to evaluate fleet performance and operational availability
Knowledge of DoD aviation maintenance processes, readiness metrics (Full-Mission Capable (FMC) & Mission Capable (MC) rates) and reporting standards
Ability to integrate data across multiple DoD systems to perform trend analysis, predictive maintenance forecasting, and readiness assessments
Familiarity with DoD data governance, security, and compliance requirements, including handling of controlled unclassified information (CUI)
Experience building dashboards and readiness reports for senior leadership and program managers within defense organizations
Expertise in applying statistical and analytical methods directly to aircraft sustainment and operational readiness problems
Management, Technical or Scientific MS or MA degree from an accredited college or university
Must have at least ten (10) years of recent and relevant experience in an engineering or operations analysis position, three (3) of which must be directly related to DoD systems
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must have an Active Secret Security Clearance with ability to obtain and maintain a higher clearance if required
