Join us as a Senior Technical Claims Handler, where you'll deliver excellence in managing intricate property claims, shaping industry standards, and driving innovation for a dynamic and high-impact role in the heart of our progressive team.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver initiative claims savings, settlement cost performance, large loss emergence, reserve accuracy and run off to agreed targets on own and departmental portfolio of large & complex loss claims
  • Exceed or meet agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs), caseload, and Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) targets across all classes by leveraging operational performance data for effective claims servicing
  • Ensure supplier engagement and performance, guaranteeing adherence to policy and contracted terms in the management of large and complex loss claims
  • Serve as the principal Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Large & Complex Loss under the guidance of the Technical Property & Liability Claims Manager. Provide technical expertise and advice to colleagues, participate in internal DLG Forums, projects, and initiatives, and represent DLG at external forums.
  • Take joint responsibility with the team leader for recruitment, performance management, development, and engagement of staff within the property and liability large loss team
  • Support the integration of professional risk management as a fundamental aspect of the organisational culture, aligning with the standards expected of an independent organisation as tested in a due diligence process
  • Identify, own and manage the risks involved in running our business appropriate to your role, following the Direct Line Group risk framework

Requirements:

  • Experience handling all aspects of large and complex household property claims, such as fire, flood, escape of water, environmental and subsidence claims
  • The ability to manage a caseload of complex and high value household property claims from notification to completion
  • Capable of playing a pivotal role in shaping the development of technical claims strategy and contributing to the establishment of best practices
  • Effective communication skills, demonstrating the ability to engage with both team members and senior stakeholders across the business
