Requirements

A track record of delivering projects on time, in scope, and within quality goals in an Agile/Lean environment
Experience driving changes and establishing processes through company-wide initiatives
5+ years of software, infrastructure, privacy, or security engineering experience, preferably at a similar scale enterprise
8+ years managing and growing engineers and/or managers
Experience providing actionable feedback and coaching engineers
Excellent interpersonal skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
Experience building SaaS software with a focus on operational excellence
Experience collaborating with legal stakeholders on a global scale

Job Responsibility

Be a people manager for your engineers (~10-15 people)
Own the delivery of critical projects, multiple streams of work at once, mainly focusing on: Build Privacy Tools: Create systems to make privacy checks part of the product design process and SDL
Work with Experts: Collaborate with legal, data governance, and compliance teams
Achieve Certifications: Help Atlassian get recognized privacy certifications like ISO 27701
Closely collaborate with key stakeholders in the USA, Australia, and India to understand the key certification, legal, and privacy requirements while maintaining a deep understanding of our products and platform capabilities
Lead your team through incidents and high operational load, navigate ambiguity, and make trade-offs and hard decisions
Develop adequate processes and practices and work with leaders across the company to mature Atlassian’s privacy posture through high-quality data and scaling solutions

Requirements

5+ years of experience leading and developing a team of software engineers
Management skills are necessary, managing the team and holding them accountable for delivery and manages employee retention and wellbeing
Experience with mentoring engineers and helping others achieve their career goals
Project and risk management skills - but not attached to following processes by the book
Technical background building and running platform or data intensive backend systems
Experience to carry on a conversation, explaining technical concepts, asking good questions, shielding the team from partners and dependencies whenever possible

Bachelor’s or higher degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
Proven project management skills, including experience with technical quality control and timelines
