About the Role As a Social Worker in Preston, you will play a vital role in safeguarding children and young people, ensuring they are protected from harm and receive the right support at the right time. You will undertake high-quality social work assessments and deliver meaningful direct work with children and families to promote positive, lasting change.
Job Responsibility:
Identify children in need, including those who may require protection, and take effective action to safeguard them
Assess the needs of children and young people, determining appropriate levels of intervention and service provision, including tailored packages of family support
Negotiate, coordinate, provide and/or commission services to meet identified needs
Gather and analyse information for referrals to determine whether intervention is required within the continuum of need, ensuring appropriate recording with Children’s Social Care
Ensure the voice, wishes, and lived experiences of children and young people are central to assessment and planning processes, with clear evidence of participation
Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, sharing responsibility for planned interventions and participating in statutory meetings, case reviews, and other professional forums
Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in line with organisational and service-specific administrative and financial procedures
Engage in regular supervision, continuous professional development, and formal training in line with service requirements
Be responsive and sensitive to the diverse needs of all groups within the community, promoting equality, inclusion, and anti-discriminatory practice
Requirements:
Qualified Social Worker
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection legislation
Experience in assessment, planning, and delivering interventions for children and families
Excellent communication and partnership-working skills
Commitment to continuous improvement and achieving positive outcomes for children and young people
