Newcastle Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our Long-Term Team. We are looking for a skilled professional to manage complex cases and provide leadership in our child protection services. Job Responsibility:
Manage a complex and diverse caseload of children and families
Conduct comprehensive risk and parenting assessments and develop effective care plans
Prepare high-quality, evidence-based reports for court proceedings
Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced social workers within the team
Collaborate with multi-agency partners to ensure the best outcomes for children
Lead and participate in team meetings and professional development sessions
Requirements:
A recognised Social Work qualification (e.g., Diploma in Social Work, BA/MA in Social Work)
Registration with Social Work England
Significant post-qualification experience in statutory child protection, court work, and case management
Proven ability to work autonomously and manage a demanding caseload
Strong analytical, communication, and report-writing skills
A commitment to trauma-informed practice and child welfare
