Due to internal progression and in the Pharmacy department we are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Band 7 Senior Rotational Pharmacist to join our team. Our Pharmacy department has a strong clinical presence in all areas. We have an establishment of over 100 members and enjoy an excellent reputation within the Trust where we provide patient-centred clinical Pharmacy services to some 400 beds including pharmacist-led clinics. We are an innovative and forward-thinking department who over recent years has invested in a host of technical improvements, including robotics and state of the art dispensaries and technical services. The department is friendly, forward thinking and constantly expanding. This is an exciting time to be joining the team as electronic prescribing has recently been implemented and we are using Quality Improvement (QI) methodology to reprofile and optimise all aspects of pharmacy service, and we welcome innovation and ideas around doing things differently. We will support you with an in-house training program and you will be offered the opportunity to undertake a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy (if not already commenced) as well as encouraged to obtain a formal qualification as a Pharmacist Prescriber. Our highly respected and well embedded clinical pharmacy service with ward-based Clinical Pharmacists and Medicines Management Technicians will ensure that you have maximal patient contact with a minimal supply role.
Job Responsibility:
Gain wide-ranging experience of hospital pharmacy
Be integral to providing a clinical pharmacy service to our core wards on a rotational basis
Have regular meetings with the Lead Pharmacist for each speciality in order to facilitate learning objectives and to provide clinical support where needed
Clinical rotations will include: Cardiology
Respiratory
Care of the Elderly
Gastroenterology / Endocrinology
General Surgery
Orthopaedics
Aseptic service
Experience speciality roles, including haemato-oncology, critical care, paediatrics (including neonates)
Rotation within the Pharmacist-led Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and Anticoagulation clinics
Requirements:
Experience of hospital pharmacy service delivery, either from employment within the hospital service, or by working closely with it
Continuing Professional Development to the mandatory requirements of the General Pharmaceutical Council
Training and experience include dispensary services, clinical pharmacy and medicines information
Practical application of Clinical Governance, Medicines Management, Clinical Risk Management and Health & Safety
Use of a pharmacy software programme, and a range of office functions such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Vocational Masters degree in pharmacy
Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
Working towards postgraduate qualification (PG Diploma) in pharmacy or equivalent relevant to post
Knowledge of Medicines & Pharmacy Legislation, professional ethics, Health and Safety and the wider Health Service
Knowledge of Clinical Governance, Medicines Management, Risk Management, NICE guidance, National Service Frameworks, Shared Care Guidelines and the modernisation agenda relevant to the post
Knowledge of theoretical and practical issues, including professional guidelines, related to use of medicines and practice of pharmacy in the specialist areas
Understanding and practical experience of audit
Applicants must have current UK professional registration
Nice to have:

Non-medical prescribing qualification
