Job Description:

New York Repair is seeking a dynamic Senior Program Associate to support the planning and facilitation of meaningful Jewish service learning programs for families, teens, and young adults. The Senior Associate will facilitate Repair’s Service Corps and engage our broader Jewish community in one-off service and learning events in partnership with Jewish communal and service partner organizations. Repair’s programming mobilizes teens, families and young adults to meet community needs through service. Participants serve with local partners providing direct services, learning about social change and local context for their service, and engaging with Jewish wisdom in community through regular learning sessions with their peers. Through pairing service with Jewish learning and values, New York Repair provides an entry-point to Jewish life for Jewish folks who may not be traditionally engaged with the broader Jewish community. The successful candidate will be an aspiring experiential Jewish educator, community builder, flexible self-starter and a strong facilitator. They excel at building relationships with individuals and can speak passionately about the intersection of service, social change, and Jewish values. This is a full-time exempt position. The Senior Program Associate will report to the Senior Director, New York Region.

Job Responsibility:

Teen & Family Programming: Partner with the Senior Director, New York Region to implement a strategic calendar of service opportunities that meet partner and participant needs
Facilitate Jewish service learning for teens and families, integrating local social issues, Jewish values, volunteering, and reflection
Lead quarterly large-scale teen service days and 2–5 recurring family programs per month in partnership with synagogues and community organizations
Engage families around key Jewish and national service holidays (MLK Weekend of Service, 9/11 Day of Service, Sukkot, Hanukkah, Tu B’Shevat, Purim, Passover, Shavuot)
Recruit, train, and support 2–3 Jewish Service Ambassadors (parents or educators) to mobilize families for ongoing participation
Manage logistics and materials for all programs
Service Corps: Recruit and oversee operations of 2-3 cohorts of corps members per year with the goal of corps members becoming integrated with their service partners, connected to Jewish community, and reaching their volunteer goals
Support New York Repair’s Bridge Building Service Corps cohorts, led by partner organizations, that focus on cross-community dialogue and service. Identify, build, and sustain existing and new relationships with local Jewish organizations, civic and nonprofit partners for corps member placements
Coordinate and facilitate learning for corps members about local social issues, Jewish values and the skills needed to build Jewish service learning programs
Additional Responsibilities: Coordinate and collaborate with Repair the World’s staff across the country, to share skills and resources and maintain program alignment
Support marketing and communications efforts through content collection for our community newsletters and social media, including capturing photos and stories from service programming
Complete office and administrative responsibilities, and other needs that arise
Attend external events in support of partners and community
Input timely and accurate data in Salesforce upon completion of programs.

Requirements:

1+ years of Experience: Including a track record of: Experience facilitating Jewish learning and/or service experiences for youth, families, or adults
Ability to plan and execute community programs from concept to implementation
Comfort using standard technology tools (Email, G-Suite, etc.) and learning new systems (Salesforce, Monday, Slack, etc.)
Strong communication, organization and self-management skills
Equity Lens: Sophisticated awareness of poverty, structural racism, and ability to facilitate conversations around these issues with diverse groups in ways that empower and open people to learning
Flexible Schedule: Availability to facilitate evening and weekend programs based on the needs of partners’ and participants’ varying schedules
Live and work in NYC: Our work requires an in-the-community approach for our impact to be authentic and meaningful. Our city staff live and volunteer in the community in which they work and serve. The person in this role will work most days in the community or in our Crown Heights office.

Program Design Skills: Experience with designing and executing programs that align with our vision, with the flexibility to adapt to community needs while focusing on Jewish learning and social impact
Growth Mindset and Resilience: Shows resilience and a capacity for empathy, ready to adapt to new challenges and learn from them. Approaches problems with a solution-oriented attitude, eager to embrace opportunities for growth and improvement.
