Job Description:

Join PSC as a Senior Power System Studies consultant, delivering grid connection, stability, power quality and EMT studies. Work with experts on complex projects that support a cleaner, more resilient grid. This role sits at the heart of our Power Networks group. You will deliver studies that help clients understand how their systems behave under real world conditions and what this means for grid connections, operational performance and future development. You will contribute technical depth across a range of studies while helping guide study approaches, supporting consultants in the team and bringing clear, practical insight to client discussions.

Job Responsibility:

  • Carry out and lead power system studies including load flow, short circuit, reactive capability, voltage and frequency stability and small signal analysis
  • Deliver power quality assessments including P28 flicker studies, G5/5 harmonic reviews, distortion assessments and filter design
  • Conduct transient overvoltage and insulation coordination studies including switching surge and lightning impulse analysis
  • Evaluate dynamic interactions between control systems and power network components
  • Perform EMT simulations in PSCAD for converter, battery and network interaction studies
  • Build and refine dynamic models in PowerFactory or PSSE, including model validation
  • Support protection coordination and arc flash energy studies
  • Produce clear, practical reports and present findings to clients
  • Collaborate with colleagues across other disciplines to deliver integrated solutions
  • Provide coaching and review support for less experienced consultants
  • Contribute to proposals, scopes, estimates and wider business development
  • Promote quality, learning and consistent ways of working within the group

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of power system analysis and grid connection studies
  • Hands on experience with PowerFactory, PSCAD and PSSE
  • Knowledge of harmonic analysis, power quality or EMT modelling is welcomed
  • Ability to explain complex behaviour clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Interest in mentoring others and contributing to a collaborative team
  • A proactive, thoughtful approach to problem solving
  • Good communication skills and comfort working with clients
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Chartered status is welcomed but not essential

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of harmonic analysis, power quality or EMT modelling
  • Chartered status
