Job Description:

Airbnb is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Partnerships Manager, Host Payouts to drive the vision, execution, and ongoing performance of our partner network supporting how we pay out to our global host community across 200+ markets.

Job Responsibility:

  • Define and evolve our payout partner strategy
  • Identify the right partners in each market, structure new deals, and renegotiate existing relationships
  • Drive global deal execution for payouts
  • Own and cultivate high-impact relationships with financial institutions, payment processors, banks, and other key partners
  • Monitor partner performance rigorously
  • Lead strategic business reviews and act as the point of escalation
  • Assist in the ongoing scaling of Airbnb’s payout infrastructure
  • Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Treasury, Risk, Product, Engineering, and Global Operations
  • Stay ahead of industry and macroeconomic changes affecting international payments

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in the payments or fintech industry
  • At least 8 years in strategic partnerships, business development, or enterprise account management
  • Demonstrated success in owning commercial negotiations and managing multi-million dollar partnerships
  • Proven ability to craft and execute partner strategies
  • Deep knowledge of global payment methods, financial products, and cross-border payout solutions
  • Understanding of payments cost structure (e.g., interchange, chargebacks, FX, treasury flow)
  • Experience in resolving partner conflicts or escalations, ideally across multiple markets or regulatory contexts
  • Strong storytelling and analytical skills
  • Success working in highly matrixed environments
  • A passion for creating inclusive, innovative environments that foster collaboration and high performance

Nice to have:

  • International payments experience, especially in marketplace or platform models
  • Experience in platform organizations advising internal stakeholders on partner enablement strategy
  • Experience working with regulators or regulated partners in cross-border payout environments
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus

  • Operational Enablement & Execution: Partner cross-functionally to operationalize core workflows for Airbnb’s payments platform—including third-party payments, unpaid payouts, blocked third-party payments, dormant accounts, liens, garnishments, and escheatment—ensuring each has clear ownership, documented processes, appropriate tooling, and reliable execution with defined performance metrics and SLAs
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Risk, Compliance, Partnerships, Treasury, Customer Support, FP&A, and regional teams to align on workflow design, tooling needs, volume projections, resource planning, and budgeting
  • Balance control and experience, ensuring operational processes meet policy, risk, and compliance requirements while minimizing friction for guests and hosts
  • Identify and implement optimization opportunities across money-movement operations, leveraging automation, AI, and data insights to improve accuracy, speed, and scalability
  • Close ownership gaps by establishing clear accountability, measurable SLAs, and consistent global execution standards
  • Develop playbooks, procedures, and escalation paths that define how payments operations are executed and governed across markets and teams
  • May eventually lead directly or indirectly a team of people to enable and execute operations
  • Policies, Procedures & Standards: Define and maintain clear policies and procedures that guide payment operations, ensuring ownership, consistency, and compliance globally
  • Embed controls into everyday work so processes meet legal and regulatory requirements without adding unnecessary friction
  • Keep policies and procedures current and simple, updating them as products, markets, or regulations evolve, and ensuring teams know how to apply them in daily operations
