KAYAK is seeking a Design Systems Designer with a focus on mobile to join their global Product Design team. The role involves building and scaling a world-class design system for KAYAK’s iOS and Android apps, ensuring consistent, high-quality user experiences. The designer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor mobile designers.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the design for KAYAK’s apps on iOS and Android, through evolution of scalable mobile UI components, patterns, and guidelines
ensure a consistent design across all user touch points, while also leaning into and embracing platform differences
champion mobile UX quality, accessibility, and visual polish across platforms, setting the standard for all KAYAK app experiences
manage and coordinate the Mobile Team, bringing together designers from various product teams to align on mobile quality standards, and design rituals
work closely with Marketing and Product teams, especially our App Acquisition team, to ensure an integrated and consistent experience from ad to in-app onboarding
partner with product pods and embedded designers in our agile teams, ensuring that the design system patterns are adopted and improved through feedback
own documentation and Figma library management as well as lead training and onboarding sessions to help the entire team move faster and smarter
keep KAYAK at the forefront of mobile design trends, platform updates, and tooling by continuously researching, sharing, and integrating new ideas
Requirements:
5 years of proven experience in product design, with at least 2 years building or maintaining a mobile design system for a consumer app at scale
strong expertise in designing across mobile, with a deep knowledge of Apple HIG and Material Design
deep experience with Figma, including building and maintaining robust component libraries, design tokens, and documentation
a solid understanding of mobile accessibility requirements and animation/motion standard methodologies
experience collaborating with cross-functional partners in product, engineering, and marketing
a proven track record of mentoring or leading design communities, guilds, or teams focused on mobile
a proactive, meticulous approach and a strong sense of ownership over your work
