The Senior Geophysicist will provide vital geophysical expertise to support mining, exploration, hydrogeology and geotechnical and other departments. You will play an integral role to plan and monitor surface, airborne, and downhole geophysical surveys, as well as process, model, and interpret geophysical data, primarily for lithium and iron ore exploration and resource definition. Supporting the Principal Geophysicist, you’ll collaborate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and apply your technical skills across varied geophysical techniques and geological settings.
Job Responsibility:
Advise and support various geophysical projects, primarily for lithium and iron exploration, but also to support hydrogeological and geotechnical investigations
Designing and budgeting geophysical survey programs that are aligned with the objectives of the project
Supervise and monitor geophysical survey programs
Carry out geophysical data processing, modelling, inversion, and interpretation and provide recommendations for exploration drilling and target selection
Provide technical guidance and support to the Exploration and Geology department and other MinRes departments
Prepare technical reports and presentations
Provide technical input and expertise for geophysical contractor selection and management
Ensure compliance with health, safety, heritage and environmental regulations
Requirements:
Tertiary qualifications in Geophysics or Bachelor of Science, or related technical field
High level experience in various geophysical exploration programs, with experience working on lithium and iron ore projects preferred
Experienced in a wide variety of downhole, surface and airborne geophysical techniques, and proficient in geophysical survey design, data acquisition, processing, and interpretation
Experience with a variety of GIS and geophysical software, such as QGIS, ArcGIS, Leapfrog, Oasis Montaj, etc.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and possessing the ability to present technical information to non-technical audiences
Self-disciplined and positive attitude, with an ability to work within a team environment and autonomously when required
A focus on safety, and knowledge of health, environmental and cultural heritage requirements and their application to exploration programs
Valid C Class manual drivers licence
Occasionally travel to site as required to oversee projects
