Job Description:

This position is within the Quality (Technical) Department reporting into the Technical Manager, working across all product categories and sustainability for both menswear and womenswear.

Job Responsibility:

  • Using technical expertise to collaborate with and influence decision-making at the earliest stages of product concept
  • Development of new specs when required while maintaining consistency of fit and adherence to established blocks
  • Ensuring master brand standards for colours, embroidery, and constructions are aligned across the supply base
  • Reviewing all bulk lab dips and accurately communicating colour feedback to ensure consistency and continuity across the range and supply base
  • Advising key component and construction detailing to design and development packs to facilitate the production of prototype samples
  • Assessing all samples during the earliest stages of the development process in collaboration with the designer and product developer, pro-actively influencing decisions where necessary
  • Maintaining accurate product packages, setting up initial prototype packs, and fitting through all stages of development in collaboration with design and product development
  • Full ownership of the product from the SMS stage to bulk production, fitting and approval of graded size charts for production, and approval of all fabric and trim testing
  • Updating tech packs with comprehensive fit comments, construction comments, and providing technical instructions to the supply base
  • Assessment, risk analysis, and management of all potential new fabric and trim developments, as well as bulk fabric, prints, and trims, managing and influencing suitability and compatibility
  • Reviewing base and bulk test reports of all fabrics and trims and maintaining legal and accurate fibre analysis for care labels
  • Liaising with suppliers and factories during production to ensure technical issues are supported by the team with clear and timely decisions to ensure shipment dates are achieved
  • Assessing production and shipment samples to ensure they meet all quality, labelling, and packaging requirements. Assessing final AQL inspection reports and liaising with the production department to facilitate the maintenance of required ex-factory dates
  • Working closely with the product development teams to review responsible fabric and trim alternatives and review necessary certification needed, maintaining accurate validity of all certificates for responsibly sourced fabrics and trims in the range

Requirements:

  • Strong technical knowledge of construction and manufacture across a wide range of products
  • Extensive knowledge of fitting, grading, and construction
  • A sound technical knowledge of a wide range of woven and knitted fabrics, with the ability to assess style compatibility and viability

  • Support the Lead Technologist in the delivery of strategic initiatives and objectives within technical product development and supply chain through owning and driving parts of or whole projects
  • Work in partnership with the buying team and our suppliers to create new products
  • problem solving to find technical solutions through pattern, garment construction and materials to deliver the best fit and quality for our customers
  • Cutting and grading patterns from concept to production, making amendments after weekly fit sessions and creating graded measurement charts
  • Work closely with our sample machinists to ensure samples are made correctly to the method of construction and to the quality standard required
  • Support the Lead Tech in managing weekly fitting sessions and the fit and sealing approval process, in addition to managing your styles fitting samples, carrying out measurement and quality checks, giving accurate feedback
  • Create and maintain accurate technical packs from costing to production, ensuring clear communication of fit, quality, and production details that allow factories to produce garments to a high standard
  • Manage product quality throughout whole lifecycle ensuring that all styles are fit for end purpose and bulk production by testing materials and garments, carrying out wear testing and approving test reports
  • Manage styles in line with Critical Path working collaboratively with internal teams and suppliers to problem solve and ensure key milestones are met, mentoring and supporting the team to do the same
  • Create AQL paperwork and packs, working closely with warehouse QC team to AQL approve styles in time for planned launch
