We are looking for a Functional Safety Engineer to join our Functional Safety team. Reporting to the Director, Functional Safety Compliance and Regulatory Assurance, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing functional safety aspects of the engineering process in cross functional teams. As a Functional Safety Engineer your work will span from conducting risk assessments, developing safety concepts and defining architecture, creating functional safety requirements to define the risk reduction strategy of our Electronic and Electro-Programable Safety systems.
Job Responsibility:
Plan and coordinate functional safety activities for compliance to industry norms
Create Functional Safety awareness across departments
Perform safety management activities during all project phases including hazard analysis and risk assessment, DFMEA, FMEDA, qualitative and quantitative fault tree analysis
Collaborate with project managers, development team and customers on Functional Safety
Participate in the design process and provide professional feedback to achieve the safety goals of the business
Conduct reviews with product teams to ensure functional safety standards are met throughout product development cycles
Sign-off the design release for each step during the development process
Plan and coordinate functional safety audits and 3rd party assessments
Report and escalate proactively to Project manager and/or design leads
Travel of up to 20%
Requirements:
BS degree in an Engineering related discipline, Master’s preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience driving product safety and compliance in complex systems
Experience with product safety standards and regulations such as ISO 12000, IEC 61508, ISO 13849, RIA R15.06 / RIA Ra5.08, OSHA, UL and NFPA 79
Experience with system engineering approaches (requirements engineering / management, functional analysis and allocation, architecture design, validation, and verification) and experience with change & configuration management
