Homebound is a national technology-enabled homebuilder. This role plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy of quantity takeoffs and cost projections, working cross-functionally with Procurement, Architecture and Design, Construction Operations and Technology.
Job Responsibility:
Own the accuracy of quantity takeoffs from early plan development through construction execution
Collaborate with the Technology and Home Product Development teams to evaluate the cost implications of specification changes
Partner with Construction Operations to reconcile takeoffs against field actuals, identify cost variances, and drive continuous improvement
Support Procurement in structuring trade bids around clear quantities, standardized scopes, and consistent estimating assumptions
Improve the quality, consistency, and scalability of estimating deliverables
Contribute to the development of internal estimating tools and systems
Requirements:
8+ years of residential construction experience
At least 5 years focused on estimating single-family homes across various U.S. markets
Proven ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs and develop cost estimates for both infill and suburban product types
Deep familiarity with resource-based estimating to support scalable product lines
Experience with detailed scopes of work, value engineering opportunities, and assessing construction risks from early plan sets
Competency in a wide range of takeoff and estimating platforms (e.g., Planswift, Excel-based models, Bluebeam), with the flexibility to learn and optimize new tools
Candidates must be based in Houston
Nice to have:
Certified as a Professional Estimator (CPE), or interested in pursuing certification
