Senior Engineering Manager - Privacy Engineering

• Be a people manager for your engineers (~10-15 people)
• Own the delivery of critical projects, multiple streams of work at once, mainly focusing on: Build Privacy Tools: Create systems to make privacy checks part of the product design process and SDL
• Work with Experts: Collaborate with legal, data governance, and compliance teams
• Achieve Certifications: Help Atlassian get recognized privacy certifications like ISO 27701
• Closely collaborate with key stakeholders in the USA, Australia, and India to understand the key certification, legal, and privacy requirements while maintaining a deep understanding of our products and platform capabilities
• Lead your team through incidents and high operational load, navigate ambiguity, and make trade-offs and hard decisions
• Develop adequate processes and practices and work with leaders across the company to mature Atlassian’s privacy posture through high-quality data and scaling solutions

• A track record of delivering projects on time, in scope, and within quality goals in an Agile/Lean environment
• Experience driving changes and establishing processes through company-wide initiatives
• 5+ years of software, infrastructure, privacy, or security engineering experience, preferably at a similar scale enterprise
• 8+ years managing and growing engineers and/or managers
• Experience providing actionable feedback and coaching engineers
• Excellent interpersonal skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience building SaaS software with a focus on operational excellence
• Experience collaborating with legal stakeholders on a global scale

• Experience with scalable, high-performance systems that are highly available
• A strong understanding of how to use metrics to guide decisions
• Experience reducing toil and working with teams with high operational load
• Familiarity with security systems and privacy certifications, practices, and processes
• Bonus if you have led security or trust & safety teams before
• Managing vendors and industry partners experience
• Enterprise-grade platform solution development
• Cloud engineering/security experience
• Presentation experience at industry events
• Experience working with compliance, privacy, trust & safety, security, and infrastructure
• Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat landscape, and best practices
