As a Senior Engineer on Mercury Marine's Current Product Engineering team you will be focused on improving the quality, functionality and performance of our current propulsion product line. This role is particularly focused on supporting cowl components.
Job Responsibility:
Analyze, evaluate, troubleshoot and resolve product issues escalated via current product requests
Conduct, support and manage mechanical component design and development projects
Provide consultation, support and expertise in collaboration with the manufacturing team in order to evaluate and resolve quality issues as well as develop process improvements
Develop component/system test plans, write test requests and execute, validate and revalidate product components
Collaborate with and provide direction to CAD designers and test technicians assigned to your design and test projects
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
6+ years of relevant experience with a variety of manufacturing processes (Sheet metal forming, Aluminum casting, injection molded plastic, molded or extruded rubber, sheet molded compound)
2+ years of direct experience interacting with and supporting service and manufacturing teams
Understanding of customer‑facing Class A cowl components, seals, panel‑to‑panel fit, and related systems
Familiarity with Class A component design principles and customer interaction surfaces across multiple manufacturing processes.
Nice to have:
Experience with Injection molded plastic processes
Experience in Gap and flush design for Body panels or similar applications
Experience with Latching and User interaction features design
Experience with large class A component design
