We've built a community of designers and researchers to support the public sector's growing demand for a design-led approach to service delivery. Senior Designers at Made Tech are senior specialists in their design discipline(s). In this case, we're looking for a well-rounded, expert practitioner across a range of design disciplines, including UX Design, Interaction Design, Product Design, and Service Design who is also able to coach and mentor other designers within the Interaction and Service Design discipline at Made Tech. Success in this role means working as an expert practitioner to deliver positive outcomes.

Job Responsibility:

  • Hands-on design to assure successful design and delivery of public services through technology
  • Act as subject matter expert, facilitating design process and communicating design decisions
  • Take active role in Service and Interaction Design community, leading on developing and sharing good practice
  • Actively support retention, hiring, and team quality
  • Mentor and coach within design community
  • Contribute to overall design outcomes of engagement
  • Enable and hold others to account for producing high quality outputs
  • Make decisions which impact success of assigned work
  • Actively look to deliver positive outcome
  • Give feedback often
  • Comfortable having difficult conversation

Requirements:

  • Senior specialist in design discipline(s)
  • Expert practitioner across UX Design, Interaction Design, Product Design, and Service Design
  • Able to coach and mentor other designers
  • Able to develop new and novel approaches to highly complex design challenges based on fundamental design principles
  • Expert practitioner in leading design tools including Figma, GOV.UK prototyping kit, Adobe InDesign
  • Able to coach and mentor others and define interaction and service design standards
  • Influences organisation, clients, partners and peers on contribution of interaction and service design
  • Develop wide breadth of knowledge across industry or business
  • Take initiative and fully responsible for own outcomes
  • Work often self-initiated
  • Able to define approach from first principles and propose alternative ways to deliver
  • Fully responsible for meeting objectives on engagement
  • Understand relationship between interaction and service design, other disciplines, and wider client organisational requirements
  • Define what 'good' design looks like on engagement
  • Establish milestones and have significant role in assignment of tasks
  • Support client collaboration throughout all stages of work
  • Ensure users' needs are met consistently
  • Comfortable owning a problem
  • Have growth mindset
  • Candid-but-kind communicators

  • Contribute to marketing materials
  • Required to undertake SC clearance
