Lawes Consulting Group is proud to be working with a leading global (Re)insurer specialising in Construction & Engineering risks. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Underwriter to join a respected team, playing a key role in assessing and managing complex risks while supporting international growth and collaboration.

Job Responsibility:

  • Review and underwrite new business based on risk assessment and market data
  • negotiate terms with brokers and clients to optimise profitability
  • ensure all underwriting decisions follow internal policies and procedures
  • work closely with global teams to align processes and maintain documentation
  • support junior underwriters through knowledge sharing and peer reviews
  • uphold compliance standards and contribute to regulatory requirements
  • strengthen and maintain broker and client relationships
  • contribute to business planning and new product development
  • collaborate with internal teams (Actuarial, Legal, Compliance, etc.)
  • promote brand presence through marketing and relationship-building efforts

Requirements:

  • 10+ years in underwriting or related insurance experience, preferably in Construction & Engineering
  • progressing toward or holding CII qualification
  • strong understanding of underwriting practices and market dynamics
  • strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • excellent written and verbal communication
  • high attention to detail and accuracy
  • proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • able to prioritise, multitask, and perform under pressure
  • proactive, self-driven, and customer-focused
