As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in architecting, deploying, and optimising our cloud infrastructure to support our mission-critical applications. You’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud-based infrastructure and services to ensure high availability, scalability, and security for our fintech platform. This role requires deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS and GCP), infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and fintech-specific compliance requirements (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR, SOC 2). You’ll also collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, Security, and Software Engineering, to deliver robust and efficient cloud solutions.
Job Responsibility:
Cloud Architecture Design: Architect and deploy secure, scalable, and cost-optimised cloud infrastructure to support fintech applications, ensuring alignment with business and compliance requirements
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain IaC using tools like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure ARM templates to automate infrastructure provisioning and management
CI/CD Pipeline Integration: Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate cloud infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines, enabling seamless deployment of applications using GitHub Actions
Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and network security, to meet fintech regulatory standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR, SOC 2)
Performance Optimisation: Monitor and optimise cloud performance, leveraging tools like AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, or Datadog to ensure low latency and high availability
Cost Management: Implement cost-optimisation strategies, including reserved instances, spot instances, and auto-scaling, to maximise ROI on cloud investments
Disaster Recovery and High Availability: Design and implement disaster recovery (DR) strategies and high-availability architectures to ensure business continuity
Collaboration and Mentorship: Work closely with software engineers, security teams, and junior cloud engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
Incident Response: Participate in troubleshooting and resolution of cloud-related incidents, ensuring minimal downtime and rapid recovery
Innovation and Research: Stay updated on emerging cloud technologies and fintech trends, recommending and prototyping new solutions to enhance platform capabilities
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of experience in cloud engineering
Designed and managed cloud infrastructure in AWS and/or GCP within a fintech or regulated industry
Hands-on experience with IaC tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, ECS)
Proficiency in at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP or Azure) with relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or GCP Professional Cloud Architect)
Expertise in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell)
Knowledge of networking concepts (VPC, subnets, VPN, load balancers)
Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack)
Understanding of microservices architectures and serverless computing
Familiarity with fintech compliance requirements, including PCI-DSS, GDPR, SOC 2, or ISO 27001
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Ability to mentor and guide junior team members
Proactive and adaptable to fast-paced, dynamic environments
