Job Description:

This is a role for a Senior Applications Support Analyst at Citi in Belfast, United Kingdom. The position involves ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of the company's Big Data Platform while supporting applications in production. Job Responsibility:

Providing quick resolutions to app issues, driving stability, efficiency and effectiveness improvements
Maintaining application systems that are running in daily operations
Managing, maintaining and supporting applications and their operating environments
Performing start of day checks, continuous monitoring, and regional handover
Performing same-day risk reconciliations
Developing and maintaining technical support documentation
Maximizing the potential of the applications used
Assessing risk and impact of production issues and escalating when necessary
Ensuring storage and archiving procedures are in place and functioning correctly
Formulating and defining scope and objectives for complex application enhancements and problem resolution
Reviewing and developing application contingency planning
Partnering with development and production support areas to prioritize bug fixes and support tooling requirements
Participating in application releases and post-implementation analysis
Communicating risks, vulnerabilities, and security issues
Ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and procedures
Acting as a liaison between users and internal technology groups
Providing evaluative judgment and acting as an SME
Engaging in support projects covering Stability, Efficiency, and Effectiveness initiatives

Requirements:

Experience in an Application Support role
Hands-on experience in supporting applications built in Hadoop
Working knowledge of various components and technologies under Cloudera distribution like HDFS, Hive, Impala, Spark, YARN, Sentry, Oozie, Kafka
Experienced in Linux
Very good knowledge on analyzing the bottlenecks on the cluster - performance tuning, effective resource usage, capacity planning, investigating
Perform daily performance monitoring of the cluster - Implement best practices, ensure cluster stability and create/analyze performance metrics
Experience installing, configuring or supporting business applications
Experience with some programming languages and willingness/ability to learn
Good SQL experience in any of the RDBMS
Advanced execution capabilities and ability to adjust quickly to changes and re-prioritization
Effective written and verbal communications including ability to explain technical issues in simple terms that non-IT staff can understand
Demonstrated analytical skills
Issue tracking and reporting using tools
Knowledge/experience of problem Management Tools
Effectively share information with other support team members and with other technology teams
Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
Ability to communicate appropriately to relevant stakeholders
UNIX shell scripting, Python/PERL will be of added advantage

Nice to have:

Knowledge/working experience of ITRS Active Console/other monitoring tools
Knowledge/working experience of Autosys/scheduler
