Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly and professional team supporting various finance systems used by UK Mortgages, including SUMMIT mortgage system, interfaces, reporting and databases. The role involves close liaison with external suppliers, internal IT teams and Business areas.

Job Responsibility:

  • Work within the ITIL framework to manage incidents, problems and changes
  • Investigate and resolve system issues raised via Service Desk
  • Address the root causes of incidents to prevent recurrence
  • Develop, test, document and implement system changes
  • Document incidents, fixes and/or workarounds
  • Be involved in risk remediation and service improvement activities
  • Suggest improvements to the services from an Application Operations perspective
  • Monitor day-to-day operations to ensure service stability and report to management

Requirements:

  • Experience in an IT support or application development role
  • Good experience working on IT systems (Oracle/SQL/PL*SQL)
  • Strong Oracle knowledge
  • Proven track record of developing fixes to resolve service issues
  • Experience in Unix/Linux and shell scripting
  • Ability to work well under SLAs
  • Effective communication with people at all levels
  • Problem solver with strong analytical reasoning skills

Nice to have:

  • Experience of IT service management
  • ITIL Foundation qualification or equivalent
  • Experience of working with Third Party Vendors/Managed Service Providers
  • Knowledge of file transfer tools (Connect Direct)
  • Experience in Control-M batch scheduler
  • Experience in GIT/Bitbucket
  • Exposure to JBoss and Axway environments
