Job Description:

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Des Moines, Iowa. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in managing property accounting processes, overseeing fixed asset management, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of accounting principles and a proven ability to collaborate across departments.

Job Responsibility:

Manage property accounting functions, including recording, reconciling, and reviewing property transactions
Maintain and update fixed asset registers to ensure accurate tracking, capitalization, and depreciation
Prepare and analyze financial reports related to property and fixed assets, providing insights to support decision-making
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies regarding asset capitalization and management
Conduct periodic audits of property and asset records to verify accuracy and integrity
Collaborate with teams across departments to provide financial analysis for property-related initiatives
Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts for property and fixed assets
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in property accounting practices
Support month-end close procedures by preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
Utilize accounting systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP to streamline reporting and analysis

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
At least 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on property accounting and fixed assets
Solid understanding of accounting principles, especially those related to asset management and capitalization
Proficiency in accounting software and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
Strong analytical abilities with exceptional attention to detail
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams
Experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP
Ability to manage month-end close processes, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations
