Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing key accounting functions, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting critical month-end processes. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of a leading organization in the energy and natural resources industry.

Job Responsibility:

Manage the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure all accounts are properly balanced
Prepare and review journal entries to ensure compliance with accounting standards
Conduct account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, to identify and resolve discrepancies
Support the preparation and analysis of annual inventory reports
Oversee the calculation and reporting of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
Utilize SAP to manage and streamline accounting processes
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial data integrity and compliance with policies
Provide insights and recommendations to improve accounting processes and controls

Requirements:

Proven experience in accounting with a focus on month-end close and general ledger management
Proficiency in preparing journal entries and conducting account reconciliations
Strong knowledge of bank reconciliation processes and financial reporting
Hands-on experience with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
Familiarity with inventory accounting and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) calculations
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and meet critical deadlines
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
