Requirements

A fluent English speaker
Previous experience as an LSA / Teaching Assistant supporting children in a primary school setting (Year 2 experience highly desirable)
Confident supporting English language development and core KS1 subjects
Warm, patient, reliable, and able to build trust quickly with young learners
Comfortable working full-time within a school setting and following the school’s procedures
Strong communication skills and a professional, child-centred approach

Job Responsibility

Provide consistent, tailored daily support for a Year 2 student within the classroom environment
Assist with English, reading, writing, phonics, and general learning activities
Support confidence-building, emotional regulation, and positive learning habits
Help in academic progress and close any learning gaps
Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and the school’s SEN/LSA teams
Help reinforce lesson objectives, adapt tasks as needed, and provide one-to-one focus
Maintain clear communication with teachers and, where appropriate, the family
Promote independence while offering structured, patient guidance
Ensure the student is engaged, included, and supported throughout the school day

Requirements

Qualified to PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade C or above
L2/L3 Safeguarding
SEN qualifications demonstrating knowledge and competency with ASD (autism spectrum disorder)
Behaviour management training
Working with SEN (Special Educational Needs) learners to enable lesson participation
Developing resources and working with ASD, ADHD
Utilising EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans) to plan for learner engagement
Report writing and progress tracking
Experience in small group settings

Job Responsibility

Provide LSA (Learning Support Assistant) support in lessons
Assist Tutors in developing and monitoring learners’ support plans
Offer 1:1 facilitation for learners not ready for classroom settings
Develop and implement personalised support plans for learners with special educational needs
Conduct regular one-on-one sessions to monitor student progress and adjust strategies
Conduct initial assessments for learner starting points and provide feedback to tutors
Support learners with communication techniques
Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes engagement and independence
Organise parent meetings to discuss learner progress, challenges, and goals
Collaborate with educational professionals to ensure a cohesive support network
