Secondary Teaching Assistants Wanted in Chester! Are you looking for a rewarding role to start January 2026? We are looking for patient and motivated individuals to support students in our secondary schools across Chester. We offer day to day and long term roles. Help young people reach their full potential and start your year making a real difference. As a Teaching Assistant, you are the bridge between the teacher and the student. Your main goal is to make sure no child gets left behind. You will work inside the classroom to help teenagers understand their lessons, stay motivated, and overcome any barriers to learning.

Job Responsibility:

  • Helping students understand their classwork in small groups
  • Working one-on-one with students who need extra help
  • Supporting students with EAL (English as an Additional Language)
  • Keeping students focused and on task during lessons
  • Helping the teacher prepare the classroom and learning materials
  • Watching out for the well-being and safety of all students
  • Encouraging students to build their confidence and independence

Requirements:

  • Communication: Being able to explain things clearly to teenagers
  • Patience: Staying calm and supportive when students find work difficult
  • Experience: Previous work with children or young people is great, but a passion for helping others is most important
  • Safeguarding: A commitment to keeping children safe at all times
  • Adaptability: Being ready to help different students with different needs every day
