Astrion is seeking a Satellite AI&T Electronics Technician to support small satellite assembly, integration, and test for Air Force Research Lab and commercial customers in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This position offers the opportunity to work hands-on with cutting-edge space hardware in a collaborative environment driving innovation in space systems.
Job Responsibility:
Support AFRL’s Small Satellite Portfolio (SSP) through hands-on electrical fabrication, testing, and integration activities
Read and interpret electrical schematics and wire diagrams for assembly and test purposes
Fabricate complex payload harnesses and cable assemblies per specification and standards
Execute test procedures in support of integration, build, and qualification of electrical subsystems and components
Work closely with engineers and other technicians during subsystem and system-level integration and test activities
Identify program problems, recommend improvements, and implement process solutions
Maintain ESD-safe work practices and ensure quality workmanship in all electrical builds
Gather, compile, and maintain technical data such as test results, design changes, and documentation
Support the continued build-out and advancement of Astrion’s space systems development capabilities
Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship required
DoD Secret clearance
Associate of Science degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
Minimum 3+ years of experience in the electrical or space industry
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wire diagrams
Proficiency in use of oscilloscopes, multimeters, and amp meters for circuit testing and signal measurement
Experience fabricating cable harnesses to IPC J-STD-001/WHMA-620 standards
Skilled in soldering and de-soldering SMT components and terminals
Familiarity with Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) practices and electrical safety
Basic understanding of electrical circuits and troubleshooting techniques
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, integration and test environment
Nice to have:
IPC J-STD-001/WHMA-620 Certification
DoD Top Secret clearance
Experience in cable harness fabrication (Class 3)
Experience with hand/reflow soldering of printed circuit boards
Knowledge of AC/DC electronics and electrical theory
Prior experience in the aerospace or space systems industry
Proficiency using hand tools, cutting and crimp machines, and precision connectors (D-sub, Omnetics, Micro-D/Nano-D, circular, etc.)
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently on assigned tasks
