The primary responsibility of a Safety & Security Specialist is to protect IKEA co-workers, customers, and assets from any preventable losses, injuries, or illnesses within the unit, thereby supporting the overall goals of the IKEA company. This is achieved through effective risk management assessment and by positively influencing co-workers and managers to foster a strong culture of safety awareness throughout the store.
Job Responsibility:
Organizing, coordinating, and monitoring prevention and protection activities in accordance with current health and safety legislation
Ensuring the proper implementation of applicable legal regulations and industry standards
Verifying that all employees understand and apply the measures outlined in the prevention and protection plan
Developing and implementing training and testing programs within the unit
Overseeing compliance with all legal requirements in the area of safety and security
Conducting health, safety, and emergency preparedness training in line with legal provisions and internal procedures
Carrying out internal occupational health and safety (OHS) and emergency inspections
Preparing for and participating in internal and external audits related to health, safety, and emergency management
Taking part in the investigation of incidents, in accordance with legal responsibilities
Keeping employees and managers informed about updates in OHS and emergency legislation
Representing the company in interactions with regulatory authorities (e.g., the Fire Safety Inspectorate, Labor Inspectorate) and maintaining professional relationships with them
Ensuring the effective implementation of employee training programs regarding health, safety, and emergency policies, procedures, practices, and legal requirements
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of experience in occupational health and safety
Certified Fire safety technical officer (PSI responsibilities)
Strong knowledge of relevant legislation
Completion of a professional training program in Occupational health and safety (minimum 80 hours)
Postgraduate course in Occupational health and safety (minimum 180 hours)
Training and facilitation skills
Excellent written and verbal English skills are required
