As Room Manager, you will be the driving force behind the success of your room or unit – overseeing the “everyday” and taking the lead. You will not only operate an efficient and “to standard” room/unit but you will inspire, role model, coach and develop your Apprentice and Qualified Early Years Educators to deliver our ambitious and robust approach and curriculum to give all children the skills and experiences they need to take on the world without limitations. Every day you will balance the needs of the children, parents, your team and the business – ensuring you go above and beyond and excel in early years excellence. As part of your Room Manager role, you will also take on a Designated Role within the nursery.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee room/unit operations and ensure standards are met
Inspire, coach, and develop Apprentice and Qualified Early Years Educators
Implement and follow age-appropriate routines and planning cycles
Complete child profiles, parent communication, and record keeping on Nursery App
Maintain room presentation, cleanliness, and displays
Oversee snack and mealtimes following food and allergy policies
Maintain Key Person System and manage child transitions
Allocate daily/weekly jobs to team members
Lead daily handovers with parents
Meet monthly with Head of Nursery
Communicate nursery updates to team
Undertake a Designated Role within the nursery
Support planning of nursery events
Complete room checks, forms, and assessments
Understand and enforce nursery policies
Handle parent feedback
Administer First Aid and medication
Identify and support children with additional needs (SEND/EAL)
Manage settling in of new children
Onboard and train new Educators
Advocate for team and share positive feedback
Prepare team for audits and Ofsted inspections
Requirements:
Experience in early years education
Ability to oversee room/unit operations
Skills in team leadership, coaching, and development
Knowledge of early years curriculum and planning
Proficiency in record keeping and nursery software (Nursery App)
Understanding of child welfare, hygiene, and safety policies
Ability to communicate effectively with parents and team
Experience with SEND or EAL support is beneficial
Capability to handle parent feedback and administer First Aid
