We currently have an opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our team in Kenora, Ontario out of our Dryden Patrol Yard as a Road Superintendent. Are you a leader? Job Responsibility:

  • Coordinating and implementing the work programs in a safe, productive and cost-effective manner
  • Positive interaction and maintaining productive working relationships with other supervisory staff, office and technical staff, Ministry of Transportation personnel, emergency personnel and the travelling public
  • Direct Supervision of positions such as Equipment Operators and WRF/Patroller involved in maintenance contract work as well as other contracted work
  • Coordinating and directing of the workforce in the performance of their duties
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • A thorough understanding of highway maintenance specifications and quality assurance program
  • Experience in Provincial and Municipal highway maintenance field
  • Proven supervisory skills
  • Helpful, friendly and courteous with the public, regulatory agencies and peers
  • Must have a clear understanding of Health and Safety requirement and legislation
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Proficient computer knowledge and ability to navigate our industry programs
  • Satisfactory drug pre-screening and Driver’s Abstract

Nice to have:

Prior experience working within a union environment is an asset

  • Guide and direct superintendents regarding public relations, fee collection, operations and maintenance, visitor services, interpretive programming, personnel, and budget
  • Serve as a representative of both the Division and Agency Leadership Teams to help create, support, and implement statewide Division budgets, personnel allocation, rules and regulations, policies, and broader Division goals and initiatives
  • Personnel Management: Supervise all State Park and Historic Site permanent and seasonal employees within the Wyoming State Parks designated Shoshone District
  • Budget Management: Plan, create, allocate, and implement Shoshone District and site-specific biennial budgets
  • Equipment and Vehicle Management: Work with other District Managers and Deputy Directors to prioritize state-wide Division equipment purchases
  • Public Relations: Represent the Division of State Parks, Historic Sites, and Trails at various public meetings, special events, collaborative working groups, conferences, and engagements
  • Oversee the District's Buildings and Ground Maintenance: Ensure Shoshone District water systems, sewer systems, campgrounds, lodges, yurts, cabins, rental operations, concessions, visitor centers, and roads are assessed, documented, and receive appropriate maintenance funding
  • Customer Service: Work with superintendents and the senior management team to maintain initiatives, create and implement new initiatives, marketing techniques, and relevant programming to meet the changing needs of the Division and its visitors
  • Interpretation: Work with district superintendents, the district interpretive ranger, field staff, and planning and marketing staff to develop, implement, and promote high-quality, innovative, interpretive programming, signage, and exhibits at each district site
