Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and a high school graduate
Must have good communication skills and a strong mechanical aptitude
Must have a valid driver’s license on the date of hire
Driver’s License, the ability to obtain a CMV or CDL is required
Must be able to read and speak the English language because this position requires following government regulations and instructions
Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems including the ability to read schematics is preferred
Experience in other mechanical oriented occupations will be considered

Job Responsibility

Ensures compliance of all railroad, safety, operations, and federal railroad administration rules and regulations
Troubleshoot and perform heavy repairs to all types of equipment components including engines, transmissions, gear boxes, hydraulic pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, working components, conveyors, booms, buckets, and electrical systems
Solve work related problems, make decisions, provide instructions, drive heavy duty service trucks and understand mechanical, electrical and automated operations of machinery

Requirements

Journeyperson certification as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or Red Seal certification required

Job Responsibility

Maintain and repair various heavy machinery and equipment including sno-cats, loaders, dozers, and graders used in ice road construction
Conduct routine preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and safety of all equipment
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues in severe winter conditions
Complete necessary repairs on hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
Support ice road operations through practical mechanical expertise
Document maintenance and repair records accurately
Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient operations while adhering to safety protocols
Participate in daily toolbox meetings and report any unsafe conditions immediately
Willingness to work extended hours and be away from home for extended periods
